Time in the Presence

One of the people in the Bible that always fascinates me is Joshua.  He was basically Moses’ apprentice, but he was also a man of God and a warrior.  One of only two spies who came back encouraging the people to take the land.  He was with Moses on the mountain when God’s glory came down and with Moses in the Tent of Meeting.

In fact, the Bible says this about Moses and Joshua, “Thus the LORD used to speak to Moses face to face, as a man speaks to his friend. When Moses turned again into the camp, his assistant Joshua the son of Nun, a young man, would not depart from the tent.”

Joshua was a man who knew the presence of God and who spent much time there.  It is no wonder that he was selected to lead after Moses died, but I want you to see where time in the Presence of God leads.

Joshua is now leading the people, and they are conquering the Promised Land.  God was fighting with them, and victory was theirs, but the day was coming to an end.  In front of every one Joshua prayed, “Let the sun stand still over Gibeon and the moon over the valley of Aijalon.”  What a prayer!

In fact, the Word says, “So the sun stood still and the moon stayed in place until the nation of Israel had defeated its enemies.”  And then two verses later the writer adds these words, “There has never been a day like this one before or since, when the LORD answered such a prayer. Surely the LORD fought for Israel that day.”  (Joshua 10:12-14 NLT)

Time in the Presence lead to confidence and bold prayer.  How much time have you spent with Him?  How about today?!
