Keep it Up

When it comes to prayer I think there are three simple things to remember:

  1. Keep it simple,
  2. Keep it real,
  3. and finally Keep it up…just keep doing it.

Remember when you first rode a bike or maybe a skateboard?  Did you ever fall?  Did you get back up?  Richard Foster said, “By praying we learn to pray.”  Thomas Merton said, “If you want a life of prayer, the way to get it is by praying.”  Mother Teresa said, “If we really mean to pray and want to pray, we must be ready to do it now.”  Start and keep it up!

Here is the quote of the day, I found it in a book written by Tyler Staton,

“Pray as you can, and don’t try to pray as you can’t.  If you can’t pray for an hour, great.  Don’t try.  It'll feel like an eternity.  Pray for a minute.  Pray as you can, and don’t try to pray as you can’t!”

Start somewhere and stay with it…if you are going to run, work out, start a new hobby…you have to start slow and build up. It is true in almost any area of life…why not prayer?  Keep it simple, Keep it real, and Keep it up.  Just keep ploughing...the harvest will come!
