Holy Spirit Possession

As I am seeking to be in constant contact with God, I find it helpful to incorporate singing into my day.  Kim and the girls can tell you I sing a lot around the house…a lot of times I drive them crazy with songs I make up, but the more I seek to be in touch with God, the more I find singing helps.  I spent Monday with two of my closest friends.  We drove over to a place where people hang glide and sat on the bluff and talked and enjoyed the day of rest. (The photo attached is the view we enjoyed!)

One of the things I found was that I just habitually found myself singing praises to God under my breath.  It’s becoming more and more natural for me to simply continue my prayer time in continual worship.  I’m not claiming to have it down to a constant form, but I’m finding it becoming more and more of a part of my life.

Here is one of the prayers I wrote out to God earlier this month:

“Help me, Lord, to recalibrate my soul and mind and actions on a moment by moment basis.  Not just spiritual rhythm, but spiritual possession.  Every single moment holy!”

That’s my prayer.  I’ve read and spoken a lot in the last few years about developing Spiritual Rhythms and I think that’s important, but it isn’t enough.  I need the Spirit of God to control my life…Paul said, “Don’t be drunk with wine but be filled with the Spirit." He gives us a picture of what being filled with the Spirit is like…it’s like being drunk…it’s like being under the influence of alcohol…it is being totally controlled by Him.

That’s what I want…Holy Spirit possession of my life.  God intoxication.  Totally controlled.  Will you join me in that prayer?
