Led by the Spirit

Yesterday we looked at the word “walk,” but there is a second verb in Galatians 5 that speaks of living our life in the Spirit.  In verse 18 Paul says, “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law.”  Walk by the Spirit and now be led by the Spirit.

To be led I must be willing to follow.  We sing, “Spirit lead me where my trust is without borders….”  Psalm 25 asks God to make me know your ways, teach me your paths, but verse 5 says, “Lead me in your truth and teach me.”  Even if I know the way and see the path…I need the Holy Spirit to lead me.

We are sheep that must follow our Shepherd.  I simply cannot live the Spirit filled life and be in control of my day to day activities.

In Psalm 23 we find the Shepherd may lead us to green pastures, he may lead us beside still waters, and along the paths of righteousness (which are literally the right paths), but He also leads us through the valley of the shadow of death.  We must ask Him to lead us and then we must step out in faith and follow.  Will you start today by asking Him to lead you as you seek to walk in Him?
