As I read the Word of God, the Holy Spirit often takes me to other passages and those passages often lead me to prayer. For example, I was meditating on Romans 8 and came across these words, (vs 5) “For those who live according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who live according to the Spirit set their minds on the things of the Spirit…”
As I stopped and pondered those words and the words that came before, I began to ask God to help me set my mind on the things of the Spirit. It was then that I moved toward Galatians 5 where Paul gives us the way to walk and to set our minds on Him.
First, in verse 16 he says, “But I saw walk by the Spirit, and you will not gratify the desires of the flesh.” The word walk really sums up the entire Christian life doesn’t it? So, I stopped and prayed, Holy Spirit help me to walk in you.
But then Paul says, in verse 18, “But if you are led by the Spirit, you are not under the law…” and he goes on to discuss the works of the flesh, but Paul speaks of walking in the Spirit and then being led by the Spirit. I asked the Holy Spirit to lead me step by step.
From the works of the flesh Paul moves to the Fruit of the Spirit…the result of walking in Him and of being led by Him. I spent time there asking the Holy Spirit to fill me with Himself and to bear His fruit through me.
And then finally, in verse 25, he said, “If we live by the Spirit, let us also keep in step with the Spirit.” Two things there…first Holy Spirit let me live by your power for there is not life apart from you. And then, Holy Spirit help me to keep in step with you. That word in the Greek speaks of marching in step…picture a platoon marching in step to the cadence of the Drill Sargent.
As I go out…I want to march in step with Him…not one step in the flesh! I want to walk in Him and with Him, I want to be led by Him…if he says go—I go, if He says stop—I stop, if He says right—I go right…you get the picture!
Just another way to pray! Please join me in this journey!!

Love the way you approach reading His Word. I call it chasing rabbits.? I haven’t been chasing any rabbits lately. Thanks for reminding me.❤️
