The Path of God Changes Everything

s we come to the end of Psalm 119’s fifth stanza, let’s review. We saw the request in verse 33, and the source of the request…the statutes of God. Then we saw the application in verse 34…he was looking for the Ancient Paths of Jeremiah 6:16 and wanting to apply them to his life.

From there we see him asking for strength in verse 36…God must show us the path, but He must also give us the strength to walk it. It is really all about Him! Verse 37 shows us that this path requires discipline because the enemy will attack us the moment we try to walk the ancient path.

And then we come to the reminder that we looked at in verse 38…the past judgments of God are present day reminders. Looking back at His promises leads us to be in awe of Him so that we may walk in holiness.

Verse 39 shows us the trust we need to have in God and the answer is found in verse 40, God gave him the request…he longs for God’s Word and seeks His righteousness!

The path of God involves:

our minds—He teaches us;

our feet—we walk His path;

our hearts—we desire Him;

our eyes—we look to Him;

and our desires—our very wants.

Everything is different. Now let me ask you the question that is begging to be answered…how different are you from the lost world around you? Are you a follower of Jesus? That all depends on if you are following Jesus. Does it impact the way you think, where you go, what you desire, what you look at, and your very wants? Following Jesus involves all of us…the entirety of our being. Are you a follower?
