  • Events and Gatherings

    Christmas Choir Special Rehearsals are starting up. If you love to worship and sing we would love to have you be a part. Rehearsals are as follows: November 19, December 2, December 11, December 13. They will perform on Sunday morning, December 15 at 9 am and 10:30 am. 



    Community Food Box Giveaway will be on November 23 from 9 am-11 am. If you are interested in helping with this in any form we are asking that you arrive at 8:30 am to be assigned your spot. There are many different serving opprotunities from helping with traffic, loading up food, praying for people in the community etc. 


    The Thankfulness Tree is an annual event that is sponsered by our Prayer Team. Each year, families will purchase ornaments and write what they are most thankful for on the ornament. These ornaments will then be displayed on one of two 12 foot trees in the MPR. Ornaments can be ordered before and after each Sunday AM Worship Service, and during the week in the Office. Ornaments are now $2 each. See Guyla Perry if you have any questions.


    The Alabama Baptist renewing and subscription time is here! The paper subscription includes digital and is $16.25. We will need your mailing address and email addres for this option. Digital only is $4.95 and you will need to give your email address. Checks should be made out to FBC and the check/ envelope should be clearly marked "The Alabama Baptist". Last day to subscribe or renew will be December 1, 2019


    Women's Christmas Dinner is just a month away. Tickets will be $15 and you can start purchasing those tickets on Sunday, November 10th. Women's Christmas Dinner is a great annual event where women of FBC can get together and fellowship over a great meal. We will also have venders and local craftsmen who will be set up to sell and take orders for unique items that would make wonderful gifts. Part of the ticket and vendor profits will be given to the Lottie Moon Christmas offering. Join us on December 6  at 6 pm for this wonderful time with the women of FBC


    Community Wide Thanksgiving Service will be hosted by us, First Baptist Church, on November 24 at 6 pm.


    Operation Christmas Child 2019: It is time to pack your Operation Christmas Child shoebox! OCC shoeboxes and labels are available in the MPR lobby adn in the hallway behind the Sanctuary. Please return your packed shoebox to the table in the hallway behind the Sanctuary by November 17. Two trips are planned to the Processing Center in Atlanta, one on Tuesday, November 26 and one on Tuesdaym December 3. The November 26 tri is promarliy for our youth, age 13 and over, but adult volunteers will be needed. That trip will leave at (:30 am and volunteers will work 2-6 pm. Sign up for that trup thru Mark Walker. The December 3 trip will leave at 11 am and volunteers will work from 3-7 pm. Call teh office to sign up for the December 3 trip. Space is limited for both trips.

  • Serving opportunities

    Petros Pantry Food Ministry:

    Help for the Homeless: Our Petros Pantry focus for October is Help for the Homeless. We will be collecting items to distribute to the homeless in our city and the surrounding area.  Suggested donations could include easy open non-cook foods such as energy bars, breakfast bars, pop tarts, Vienna sausages, beanie weenies, fruit cups, etc. Donations can be dropped off at Petros on Sundays and Wednesdays or in the church office during office hours. Thank you so much! Too, we had a great distribution of the spaghetti for September.  Thank you for your generosity!! 








Deacon Reserve List  2019

The results of the Deacon Reserve List Election are that all on the ballot were elected for addition to the Deacon Reserve List.

Those elected were Kyle Barrentine, Joseph Creew, Shannon Gunnells, Jonathan Zeiger, Josh Guthrie, and Gabe Hackney.

Kyle Barrentine, Joseph Crew, SHannon Gunnells and Jonathan Zeiger are already precbiously orfained deacons and will be added immediately to the Reserve List. Those currently on the Deacon Reserve List and these four new additions to the list will be eligible for election to the active voting body of deacons on Sunday, June 2, 2019.

Joshn Guthrie and Gabe Hackney will serve as Deacon Apprentices for the next year in preparation for future ordination. Their service as Deacon Apprentices will begin on Monday, May 6, 2019.
