Discipleship University


Discipleship University (DU) is designed to offer adults the opportunity to grow deeper in their faith and knowledge of God and His Word while preparing for service in the Kingdom of God. Our Summer and Winter mini terms run for 8 weeks and our Spring and Fall terms run for 12 weeks. Take a look below at what we are offering for our Fall term!




  • The Bruised Reed by Richard Sibbes / Facilitated by Dale Owens: In the arrogance of his own imagination, man is a great and mighty tree. The man who considers himself as God considers him will undergo a bruising. Puritan theologian Richard Sibbes uncovers what it means to be a bruised reed in this 17th century text, a passionate expression of Christian faith. (No Book Cost)
  • Dust to Glory by Dr. R.C. Sproul / Facilitated by Tim Gold: Join Dr. Sproul on a unique study tour as he explores the major themes, events, and people that are brought to life in the Bible. This DVD study provides a panorama of biblical truth and a starting point to help you understand the content of the Bible. Dust to Glory can energize your study of the Bible, provide you with new insights, and improve your ability to read understand, and apply scripture to your life. (This will be an on-going study for the next few semesters. This class has no book cost. Bring your Bible)
  • Understanding and Applying the Bible / Facilitated by Ed Glasscock: This course will provide you with the tools and techniques for grasping the significance and reality of God's Word. Through understanding the tools available and a proper method for analyzing a biblical text, you will discover how to objectively and thoroughly research the Bible. By using proper study methods and tools, the Christian can fulfill God's instruction in Timothy 2:15, to " handle accurately the Word of Truth" (This class has no book cost. Bring your Bible.)
  • Malachi by Lisa Harper/ Facilitated by Kim Thweatt: Even on your worst day, God won't leave you. Know God's unchanging love in a new way through the Book of Malachi. In this 8-session, video-driven Bible study you will gain a fresh perspective of this book of the Bible that is more than just a book about tithing. (This class will be held at 6 pm. (Book Cost $13.00)
  • Your Time-Starved Marriage: How to Stay Connected at the Speed of Life by Dr. Les and Leslie Parrott/Facilitated by Chris and Melanie Dewaal: Join with us for a time of encouragement, discussion and laughter as we grow in our marriages and as parents. This class will bless the engaged, newly married, not so newly married, married for decades and any parent with children at home. The first half of our class we will discuss Your Time-Starved Marriage: how to stay connected at the speed of life. If you often feel like your marriage is at the mercy of a rushed and an over-scheduled calendar, then learn how to take back your time and stay connected to your spouse. The second half of our class will be tailored to help parents as we strive to disciple and love our children. Class participants will help steer our sessions during this second half as we cover topics that will most benefit those present. (Book Cost: $14.00)
  • The Lies Women Believe by Nancy Leigh DeMoss/Facilitated by Kim Thweatt: Are you burned out, overwhelmed, angry, confused or fearful. Join us as we learn about these emotions and how they are a result of Satan's lies. We will tackle many of the falsehoods that enslave Christian women with alarming frequency and severity. (Book Cost: $10.00 - This study will be at 8 am on Tuesday mornings in A100)
  • The Armor of God by Priscilla Shirer/Facilitated by Dottie Bennett: All day. every day. an invisible war rages around you- unseen, yet felt throughout every aspect of your life. A devoted, devilish enemy seeks to wreck havoc on everything that matters to you: your heart, your mind, your marriage, your children, relationships, resilience and your dreams and destiny. If you are tired of being pushed around and caught with your guard down, this study is for you.  (Book Cost: $13.00- This all women's study will meet at 12:30 pm on Mondays starting August 14th in the Fellowship Hall)
