lessons from a dog

I read through Philippians 2 yesterday and marveled once again at the Incarnation. CS Lewis pictures the sacrifice of Christ this way. Imagine sitting in a chair and lying at your feet is a dog who is in deep distress. If you are like me you care for dogs and you would want to help it, but you have no way to find out what is causing the distress. Would you be willing to become a dog? Would you give up your human nature, leave the ones you love, your job, hobbies, your art and literature and music, and choose instead of the intimate communion with your beloved, the poor substitute of looking into the beloved’s face and wagging your tail, unable to smile or speak? Christ, by becoming man, limited the thing which to Him was most precious—His unhampered, unhindered communion with the Father. He entered into the womb of a virgin and became a man.  Worship Him!!
